The Demetre Law Firm could have just as easily been called Demetre and Father, as the younger Demetre started the practice 21 years ago in 2003. It was two years later, in 2005, when the senior Demetre joined the firm after graduating from Quinnipiac University School of Law. Perhaps not the traditional model for a father and son law practice, but Gordon's career path has been anything but traditional.
Gordon obtained his M.B.A. from Pace University and started his career with a couple of huge, multi-national, corporations: GM and CBS. From there he clearly decided that variety was the spice of life. In the years between CBS and law school he ran a high-end printing company, a soft-drink vending machine manufacturer, a wire and sheet metal fabricator and built luxury, racing sailboats. Finally, he attended Quinnipiac, received his Juris Doctor degree and joined the Demetre Law Firm.
John's path through his legal career has been more straightforward. After graduating from Dickinson College with a degree in economics, he received his J.D. from the Pepperdine University School of Law and was admitted to the bar for the State of Connecticut. He began by clerking for several judges in the Bridgeport Superior Court. That was followed by time with firms in Guilford, Glastonbury and Shelton, before opening the current firm in Hamden.
